 THE MIND AND THE FLESH

The mind and the flesh are so closely related that they are so used to each other. The mind had been working in consonance with the flesh before the spirit becomes recreated.

ROM 8:5 FOR THEY THAT ARE AFTER THE FLESH DO MIND THE THINGS OF THE FLESH; BUT THEY THAT ARE AFTER THE SPIRIT THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT.

The mind and the flesh are inseparable but the spirit could work separately from both the mind and or the flesh.  It is either one is born of the flesh or born of the spirit but nobody has been born of the mind. The mind has no part to play in the born program. It takes the position of a dominating influence in it and gives it the services to carry out its desire at that point in time…whether good or bad or of the spirit and or of the flesh. It is like a hall anyone could hire for a program. Even a believer could have a corrupt mind even though the spirit has been recreated in Christ if he allows bad imagination emanating from the senses to dominate the mind.. Every instruction carried out in the flesh passes though the mind but every voice of the spirit is not carried out in the flesh because the mind does not understand all the signals from the spirit since the mind was separated from the spirit when we were in unbelief. The mind has to be trained to understand the voice of the spirit by the knowledge of Christ.

JOHN 3:6 THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE FLESH IS FLESH; AND THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT.

GA 5:17 FOR THE FLESH LUSTETH AGAINST THE SPIRIT, AND THE SPIRIT AGAINST THE FLESH: AND THESE ARE CONTRARY THE ONE TO THE OTHER: SO THAT YE CANNOT DO THE THINGS THAT YE WOULD.

1 COR2:14 BUT THE NATURAL MAN RECEIVETH NOT THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD: FOR THEY ARE FOOLISHNESS UNTO HIM: NEITHER CAN HE KNOW THEM, BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED.

So the mind could understand the voice of the flesh more perfectly than the voice of the spirit because the mind had been used to the flesh over a long time before the spirit got born again. The mind does not need training to understand the voice of the flesh but it requires training to understand the voice of the spirit.

Changes start from place the mind. Whichever direction your mind changes to is the direction your life changes towards. When our spirit becomes recreated, we should change our minds in the direction of the new life in Christ through renewal so that our character would be exactly Christ’s.. We do not get transformed by the renewing of the flesh because the flesh does not need renewal. A renewed mind controls the flesh by the spirit through the knowledge of Christ but an unrenewed mind is controlled by feelings and the sensual cravings of some sensitive organs in the body through hunger, thirst, sex and  the likes.

ROM 12: 2 AND BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD: BUT BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, THAT YE MAY PROVE WHAT IS THAT GOOD, AND ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT, WILL O

2 aND LET NOT YOUR BEHAVIOUR BE LIKE THAT OF THIS WORLD, BUT BE CHANGED AND MADE NEW IN MIND, SO THAT BY EXPERIENCE YOU MAY HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GOOD AND PLEASING AND COMPLETE PURPOSE OF gOD. (bbe)f god.

When the mind has been overtaken by the thought from these cravings, it will start to fashion out ways to satisfy these cravings. Eventually these solutions turn into manifestation of the works of the flesh

(GAL 5: 19 -20) NOW THE WORKS OF THE FLESH ARE CLEAR, WHICH ARE THESE: EVIL DESIRE, UNCLEAN THINGS, WRONG USE OF THE SENSES, 20 WORSHIP OF IMAGES, USE OF STRANGE POWERS, HATES, FIGHTING, DESIRE FOR WHAT ANOTHER HAS, ANGRY FEELINGS, ATTEMPTS TO GET THE BETTER OF OTHERS, DIVISIONS, FALSE TEACHINGS, (BBE

MATH 15:19 FOR OUT OF THE HEART COME EVIL THOUGHTS, THE TAKING OF LIFE, BROKEN FAITH BETWEEN THE MARRIED, UNCLEAN DESIRES OF THE FLESH, TAKING OF PROPERTY, FALSE WITNESS, BITTER WORDS:

MARK 7: 21 BECAUSE FROM INSIDE, FROM THE HEART OF MEN, COME EVIL THOUGHTS AND UNCLEAN PLEASURES, (BBE)                                                                                                                                                                                               

These are the reasons believers fornicate, masturbate, kill, keep malice even divorce. It all starts from a mind under the unquenchable pressure to fulfill the desires of the flesh…carnality.

These believers depend solely on the mind to produce solutions for their fleshy desires and fleshy feelings. Obviously, we know that nothing good comes from the unrenewed human mind in response to Christ.  You cannot satisfy your fleshy desires by fleshy works. It will eventually lead you to more fleshy works due to more fleshy desires. The feeling for sex is normal for every human. It is a natural desire but the desire is controllable through the recreated human spirit. We have to be careful what triggers off our desire for sex. When we are so given to erotic materials it becomes the wrong reason for sexual urges. This is personal indiscipline .Sexual urge that come natural is when you see an opposite sex you like. To control this urge, control the mind by the knowledge of Christ .This is our personal discipline. If you follow the feelings, you will end up messing up with your body either through masturbation or having sex which makes you vulnerable to disease and abuses.

Sex is a natural pleasure derived from the opposite sex in the body which brings satisfaction to mind temporarily because the desire will soon come again.

To take control of your flesh, take control of your mind with the knowledge of Christ. We discipline ourselves with the knowledge of Christ because we have the mind of Christ.
